Preparing Food

Wash your hands first. Bring out only the amount of food that you can work on at one time. This practice will help limit bacteria growth.
Cooking Food
Use a probe food thermometer to check temperatures while cooking food to make sure that it gets done all the way inside. A thermometer that works best shows a range of 0oF(-18oC) to 220oF(104oC). Even if you use a thermostat to control the temperature in the oven, you still need to use a thermometer to know the temperature in the center of the food.
Different foods have to reach different temperatures to be done or safe. Wash and sanitize the thermometer each time you check the temperature of a food.
